A focused listening session dedicated to one of the most visionary and ambitious sonic works ever created.
Originally released in 1986, Ecophony Rinne by Geinoh Yamashirogumi remains a singular work in the history of recorded music – an ecstatic fusion of ritual music, gamelan, choral composition, psychoacoustics, environmental sound and speculative sonic research.
Founded by Tsutomu Ōhashi (Shoji Yamashiro), Geinoh Yamashirogumi was not a conventional music ensemble, but an interdisciplinary collective consisting of scientists, engineers, doctors, psychologists, students and performers exploring the relationship between sound, consciousness and human perception.

Many listeners first encountered their work through the legendary soundtrack to AKIRA, yet Ecophony Rinne stands as perhaps their most immersive and radical statement.

The evening will begin with a short contextual introduction to earlier Geinoh Yamashirogumi works, before a full album playback of the new Time Capsule Records audiophile reissue, half-speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios.

This session is conceived as a deep listening environment: uninterrupted playback and focused attention on sound and presence.

Please arrive on time.

During the playback we kindly ask guests to minimise conversation and movement in the space.
